Blileys has been in business for almost 140 years in large part by focusing on two areas:
This commitment is the cornerstone of what we do and how we have chosen to serve others in time of need. It is the very definition of who we are.
Over a Century of Expertise: In 1874, founder Joseph W. Bliley, Sr., and his two brothers, John and Frank, formally established what has become a family tradition of serving the community by providing compassionate care and unparalleled service.
Superior standards: We at Bliley’s adhere to the highest funeral industry standards. We are committed to excellence.
On-site Cremation Center: Having our own crematory means your loved one never leaves our care. Located at our Hull Street facility, Blileys Cremation Center offers the ideal environment for those who choose cremation.
Locations From Which to Choose: We offer convenient locations throughout the Richmond area. Our beautiful facilities were designed to provide a sense of warmth, peace, serenity and closure.
Personalized services: Our caring professionals will listen, suggest, organize, and carry out ceremonies that are comforting and full of meaning.
Catered receptions: Receptions in one of our warm, inviting reception rooms have been the setting for countless gatherings where friends and family have laughed, cried, reminisced and started the healing process together. We offer customized catering services for any size group, from simple deli delights to elaborate Italian buffets.
Exceptional staff: We have carefully chosen each member of our staff to ensure that our families receive the most professional, compassionate care. Combined our staff offers well over 750 years of experience.
Family owned and operated: In this region, which is dominated by huge chains and multinational conglomerates, we proudly remain independent and family owned. We are accountable to you, not to stockholders.
Serving all faiths and cultures: We care for families of all faiths and cultures, and are able to assist those without a spiritual leader.
Support after the ceremony: We have a full time staff member dedicated to supporting families after the loss of a loved one. He can assist your family with any details that may need to be addressed after the service.
We believe the most valuable thing we own cannot be seen or touched - it is the
goodwill of people we have served and their recommendation of us to family
and friends. That's why we are Richmond’s most preferred family-
owned funeral and cremation provider.
We continue to innovate to meet the growing needs of today’s families and look
forward to serving your family. Because of this we hold ourselves and our staff to the highest standards of excellence. We are the experts you need and the ones you can trust to help you and your loved ones through planning a final farewell.
We guarantee if you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, we will
reduce or eliminate that charge. Blileys will ensure you not only receive the compassionate care you expect, but the value you deserve.

Burial is the form of disposition where the body is buried in the ground or entombed above ground in a crypt.
At Bliley’s, we offer numerous options that cater to your family's customs and traditions to help pay tribute to a life well lived. Our personalized service starts with listening to you.
There are many variations of burial services from traditional ceremonies, with viewings and ceremonies at church or in our chapel, to simple more economic choices of direct burial with no ceremony. Some combinations could be, viewing with a graveside ceremony (using pallbearers and going in procession) the next day or day of, or you can have a private burial in the morning and later you can have a memorial ceremony at church or in our chapel. Even if your family plot is outside the Richmond area or in another state, it would be our honor to escort your loved one to their place of rest. With all these options you can have a catered meal at our establishment or a place of your choice. Our family and our staff’s focus is to help you and your family through a difficult time, and that is why our level of service cannot be matched!
Our experienced professionals handle each cremation with care and dignity, while adhering to the highest standards. To assure your loved one is being cared for appropriately, we follow a multi-point pre-cremation checklist.
As members of the Cremation Association of North America and the International Cemetery, Crematory and Funeral Association, our staff receives certifications necessary to perform cremations. We strictly adhere to a Cremation Code of Ethics, an assurance to you of our commitment to dignity and honesty.
Cremation is the clean and ecologically safe process of reducing a body to its basic elements. During a cremation, the casket or container holding the deceased is placed in the cremation chamber. The chamber temperature reaches up to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit.
After a couple of hours, the cremated remains are carefully removed from the cremation chamber. The cremated remains are then further reduced to smaller particles. Our cremation experts then place the cremated remains in a temporary container or an urn chosen and purchased by the family. Throughout the entire process, we use a carefully controlled labeling system to ensure accurate identification of the cremated remains. This process follows our commitment to providing the highest standard of care and our cremation code of ethics guidelines.
